Larger cooking and refrigeration equipment needs three-phase, and whether a tenancy has it, or can get it, is not always obvious from the meter box. Establishing that early matters, because a supply upgrade involves the distributor and their timeframe is outside anyone’s control. Equipment arriving before the supply is ready is the most expensive sequence there is.
Safety switch testing in food premises
Kitchens are wet, hot and full of portable equipment, which puts them at the short end of the testing intervals in the standard rather than the twelve month default people apply to everything. Proving a safety switch trips within the required time needs an instrument, not the button on the front.
Post-war housing around the centre
Away from the retail core the housing is largely 1950s and 1960s, with the electrical picture that goes with it: old boards, limited residual current device coverage and few circuits. Newer townhouse developments sit alongside it, bringing shared site supply questions instead.
