Ceiling and exhaust fan installation
Ceiling fans, bathroom exhausts and ducted extraction, wired and vented properly rather than into the roof space.
Houses in this part of Melbourne were wired across a century, and each era fails differently. Twenty-five years of working on them is how you tell which is which before pulling anything apart.
Almost every domestic job we attend comes down to one mismatch. The house was wired for the electrical load of its era, and the household now runs an induction cooktop, a heat pump, reverse cycle in three rooms and a car in the driveway. The wiring did not fail. It was asked to do something it was never sized for.
Ceiling fans, bathroom exhausts and ducted extraction, wired and vented properly rather than into the roof space.
Dead circuits, tripping safety switches and power points that run warm, traced to the cause.
A written check of the board, the wiring and the safety switches, for a purchase, a rental or peace of mind.
Wall box installed and tested, after we check your board can actually carry the load.
Elements, thermostats and tripped circuits diagnosed, and full replacements installed and tested.
Period homes with cloth or rubber-insulated wiring brought up to AS/NZS 3000, in stages if needed.
New outlets, USB points and outdoor weatherproof power, added on a circuit that can carry them.
Downlights, pendants and outdoor lighting, replaced or run from scratch.
Interconnected 240 volt alarms installed and positioned to meet the rules for your property.
Ceramic fuses replaced with circuit breakers and safety switches, with capacity left for what you add next.
Single phase to three phase, for homes drawing more than the mains can supply.
The part people dread is not the wiring. It is not knowing what it will cost or when someone will turn up.
You describe the fault. We tell you whether it is urgent, and whether you should switch anything off before we arrive.
You get a price before any work starts. Estimates are free, and the price does not move unless the scope does.
We agree a time. Most jobs across south-east Melbourne are attended the same day, emergencies ahead of planned work.
Work is tested and left clean, with a Certificate of Electrical Safety where the job requires one.
A single dead circuit is usually a repair. Rewiring becomes the conversation when we find rubber or cloth-insulated cable, when faults keep appearing in different parts of the house, or when the insulation crumbles as soon as a cable is moved. We test before recommending either, and a partial rewire of the worst circuits is often the sensible middle path.
Rarely. A safety switch trips because it is detecting leakage to earth, which usually means moisture, a failing appliance or damaged cable. The fix is finding which circuit and which appliance, not replacing the device. Unplug everything on that circuit, reset, then reintroduce appliances one at a time. If it trips with nothing plugged in, ring us.
The phone is answered 24 hours a day, seven days, including public holidays. Emergency work happens whenever it needs to. Planned work is normally scheduled during the week, and a call-out fee applies outside standard hours, which we tell you before we dispatch anyone.
For simple replacements, often yes. For anything involving the switchboard, the mains or wiring of unknown age, no, and anyone who does is guessing. We look first, then quote a fixed price. The estimate is free.
Yes. Where the work requires one you get a Certificate of Electrical Safety. For prescribed work such as switchboard and mains alterations, an independent Licensed Electrical Inspector signs off as well. Keep those documents, because they matter when you sell or when you claim on insurance.
