Privacy policy

Last updated 17 September 2026

This policy explains what personal information STL Electrical collects, why we collect it, who we share it with and how you can access or correct it. It applies to stlelectrical.com.au and to enquiries made by phone or email.

STL Electrical, ABN 54 128 946 372, of 25 Carnarvon St, Hawthorn East VIC 3123, is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

1. What we collect

When you complete a form on this site we collect your name, phone number, suburb, the service type you select and anything you write in the message field. When you contact us by phone or email we collect the details you give us during that conversation, including the address where work is to be carried out.

Separately, and automatically, we collect technical information through analytics and advertising tags: your IP address, approximate location, device and browser type, the pages you visit, how you arrived at the site and what you clicked. This information is not used to identify you by name.

If you become a customer we also hold the records required to quote, carry out and invoice electrical work, including site addresses and the certificates issued for the job.

2. How we collect it

Through the enquiry and quote forms on this website, by telephone, by email, and through cookies and tracking pixels set when you browse the site. We do not buy personal information from third parties.

3. Why we collect it

To respond to your enquiry, to quote work, to schedule and carry out that work, to invoice you and to meet the record-keeping obligations that apply to licensed electrical work in Victoria. Technical data is collected to measure how the website and our advertising perform, so we know which pages and which campaigns are worth keeping.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your details for marketing unrelated to the enquiry you made.

4. Who we share it with

We share information with the following categories of third party, and only as far as each needs it:

  • Analytics providers. Google Analytics 4, which processes technical and behavioural data about site visits.
  • Advertising platforms. Google Ads, and Meta where a Meta pixel is in use, for measuring and optimising advertising.
  • Our customer records system. The system we use to manage quotes, jobs and invoices.
  • Call tracking. Where a call tracking provider is in use, the phone number you call from, the number you dialled, the call time and duration are recorded.
  • Website hosting and email. Our hosting and email providers, who store the data that passes through the site.
  • Subcontractors and suppliers. Where a job requires a licensed electrical inspector, a licensed asbestos removalist or a supplier delivering to your address, we pass on only what that party needs.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, including to Energy Safe Victoria in connection with certificates of electrical safety and inspections.

Some of these providers store data outside Australia. Where that is the case, we take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that the provider handles personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

5. Cookies and tracking

This site uses cookies and similar technologies for Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads, and for a Meta pixel where one is active. These record how the site is used and whether an advertisement led to an enquiry.

You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings, though parts of the site may not work as intended afterwards. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and you can adjust or turn off personalised advertising in your Google and Meta account settings.

6. How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become jobs are kept for two years, then deleted. Records relating to completed electrical work, including quotes, invoices and safety certificates, are kept for seven years to meet tax and electrical safety record-keeping obligations. Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in Google Analytics.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls on our systems and encrypted connections to this website. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Accessing and correcting your information

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Email [email protected] or write to the postal address below, telling us what you are asking for.

We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for making a request, though we may charge a reasonable cost for retrieving a large volume of records. If we refuse access or refuse to make a correction, we will tell you why in writing.

9. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at [email protected] and we will investigate and respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, or by phone on 1300 363 992.
